micro-controller based smart queue management display system

Customer service orientated companies and institutions frequently face the problem of lengthy queues and unpredictable waiting time. This problem is causing tension and stress among both customers and employees and results in efficiency decline. Queue Management has been a problem for many years in many domains including the financial, health care, public and retail sectors. In this project, we present the design and implementation of a micro-controller based smart queue management display system.
A queue is a line of people or things waiting to be handled, usually in sequential order starting at the beginning or top of the line or sequence. In this report, the queue concerns ‘queue monitoring and control’ in regards to human beings. Although, the device can be used for any other applications such as monitoring and controlling vehicles in a fuel refilling station queue, etc. In this project design, the system consists of a sensor switch unit, input push button unit, micro-controller unit, display unit, and power supply unit. The primary aim and objective of this project is to design and construct a portable micro-controller based queue management device to maintain and control queue with order and efficiency.  Our objectives are to develop a queue management system that can be moved among places. By using this system, queue in school ICT department, ATM centers, Banking halls, Hotel reservation counters, School hostels, Ticket counters, Insurance companies, customer service centers, etc can be arranged accordingly. People can wait in a queue and see the remaining or added number of people in the queue  which are being displayed on a big screen.  Email: abledesigns@yahoo.com for more detail of the code and practical implementation.
